Asanas Practice
During the Yoga teacher training, students have to practice asanas (yoga postures)and variations (about 100 of them) and learn their sanskrit names by heart. Modifications for beginners and different groups of people and variations of the asanas are covered. Tirisula Yoga focuses on "being" in the pose rather than just "doing" the pose. Students have to hold in asanas for some time to feel the sensations and channel their thoughts internally. Proper alignment will be taught and students will be corrected by our Master Trainers. Besides holding the yoga poses, Vinyasa flow will be taught during the teacher training program.

This may be physically intense, those who have medical conditions please consult our Master Trainers before registering for the course.

The asanas include:

  • (i) Supine position - e.g. Sethu Bandasana, Chakrasana

  • (ii) Prone position - e.g. Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana

  • (iii) Sitting position - e.g. Ardha Matsyendrasana, Paschimottasana

  • (iv) Standing position - e.g. Trikonasana, Natarajasana

  • (v) Inversions - e.g. Sirsasana, Sarvangasana

Practicum
All students will have ample opportunity to observe us teaching, as well as teaching each other during student teaching exercises. Teachers will create smaller groups for the students to teach each other and get feedback from each other concerning their teaching techniques. Some student teaching and a whole lot of discussion about how to see through the eyes of an observant Yoga teacher will be focused on throughout this training. Our past graduates report this was effective for their preparation for teaching. Participants would also be required to teach 20 hours after the examination as part of the program's requirements .

Project Work
The writing exercises are meant to be interesting explorations for students to record on paper. Students have to research on a particular topic and do a short presentation it on the day of examination. This encourages independent continuous learning. Students can take this opportunity to build up your own portfolio, taking pictures of your favourite asanas and compile into a project.
