Advanced Yoga Teacher Training (Singapore)

adho mukha swanasana imageThis Advance Yoga Teacher Training (Singapore) is an advanced Diploma Certification suitable for anyone who loves Yoga and wish to have a fuller understanding after the 200Hr Yoga Teacher Training Program.

As the 200 Hr program emphasizes more on asanas, basic pranayama, general history and philosophy of Yoga, physical knowledge on the human anatomy and teaching instructions and adjustments, this 500 Hr Yoga Instructor Course (Malaysia & Singapore) gives you more in depth on the philosophy of Yoga, e.g. Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita etc. Advanced asanas, Advanced pranayama, Advanced cleansing techniques and most importantly, the application of Yoga in your daily life will be practiced.  Special mention also on the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and reference to the Siva and Gheranda Samhita.

Students need not take the modules at one go if their schedule do not permit. Typically, we do 2 modules back to back, then another 2 modules later. Each course can be taken on its own instead of the full 500hr Yoga Teacher Training Course. Each module's fees is SGD 2500.

Assans Practice: Ashtanga Vinyasa

Students practice the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series, or Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy) Series, focusing on the asanas, breathing, drishti (gaze), vinyasa (flow) and transitions.

Depending on students' progress, the second series, or Nadi Shodhana (Astral tubes purification) Series is practiced.

Our Master Trainers will give individual attention to all students and give them adjustments to help students correct their alignment and deepen the asana.

 

Adjustments, teaching methodology, pranayama, meditation, kriyas

Students will learn the techniques of adjustments, and practice on one another. Teaching methodology is taught and practiced. Advanced pranayama , meditation and kriyas are practiced.

3) Yoga Sutras Module

4 chapters of Patanjala Yoga Sutras will emphasized to understand the in depth meanings behind each sutra and how to practice them during asana, pranayama and meditation.

 

4) Bhagavad Gita Module

18 Chapters will be explained to have better appreciation of Yoga in the purest form.

Advanced Standing Yoga Postures

·         Learn postures for your needs and students needs to receive the maximum functional benefit of each asana using proper alignment, correct adjustments and props.

·         Fine tune and learn more detailed alignment techniques based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition

·         Learn the techniques of good standing postures

·         Learn the techniques for the preparation (Yoga preps) for each posture

Reciting in Yoga Practice

·         Learn the benefits and purpose of Vedic recitation in Yoga

·         Practice releasing the jaw and abdomen to aid in reciting

·         Learn different simple vedic recitations that can be added easily to your yoga practice

·         Learn how to combine recitation with asana to create a deeper transformation within yourself while practicing yoga

Inversions: Practicing Headstands,Handstands,Shoulderstands,Peacock,Scorpions Safely

·         Learn the benefits and contra-indications of inversions

·         Learn preparation/warm-up for inversions and proper modifications

·         Learn details of alignment

·         Practice safely with support: wall, props, partners, etc…

Living the Lifestyle of a Yogi

·         Discuss the difference between Yoga & Vedanta, different yoga texts (Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Upanishads etc.) in order to find a philosophy or set of yoga principles for students to live by.

·         Practice living yoga off the mat: yoga of relationships , food and nutrition, yamas and niyamas.

·         How to change lifestyle effectively

·         Understand life choices based on living yoga

Dynamic Anatomy

·         Learn to recognize alignment functional patterns and how to address them during asana correction.

·         Paying specific attention to muscles, tendons, ligaments in movement.

Advanced Teacher Training Pranayama - Part 1

·         The 5 types of pranas and 5 types of sub-pranas

·         Its applications, control and enhancements

·         Learn and practice breathing practices based on the four parts of the breath

·         puraka:inhale, antah-kumbhaka: holding inhale

·         Recaka:exhale, bahya-kumbhaka: holding exhale

·         Learn how changing the ratio of holding the breath or the length of inhale to exhale create different effects on the mind and energy body

·         Learn how the practice of pranayama affects the 5 vayus

·         Practice pranayama techniques and learn how to combine them with yoga asana to affect the vayus

Advanced Teacher Training Pranayama - Part 2  

·         Learn breathing techniques based on valving the nostrils in different combinations

·         Learn techniques that affect the major nadis and the energy body

·         Learn when to use bandhas to increase the effects of pranayama

·         Practice and learn the following techniques: (nadi sodhana, anuloma ujayii, viloma ujayii, surya bhedana, chandra bhedana)

Advanced Postures: Balance

·         Learn how to prepare and strengthen the lower and upper body for balances

·         Learn principles of alignment in balancing postures

·         Practice balance postures with props, partners in order to adapt/modify for students needs

The Five Sheaths of the Yoga Body

·         Learn and experience the five levels, (koshas), of the human system.

·         Learn the ancient yoga practices for connecting with each level: physical, energetic, mental, heart/emotional and spiritual body.

·         Experience techniques for affecting each level which include asana, pranayama, self-reflection, recitation and meditation.
