Kriya means purification techniques to cleanse our internal body in order to advance to a greater level in our Yogic practice. According to the traditional texts, there are 6 groups of purification techniques (Shat Kriyas) that cleanse different parts of our body. 1)
Kapalabhati
(skull cleansing) 2)
Neti (nasal

ancient technique of Jala Neti can be a useful yogic tool to ward of
the common cold and keep the nasal passages clear at all time! Neti
is one of the six classical Kriyas (cleansing practices) mentioned
in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Gheranda Samhita. It is also
used to enhance relationship and breathe fresh air. We know the
oxygen in the air that we breathe is the one that keeps us alive.
If the quality of the oxygen goes down it also affects our life
tremendously. We become irritable, angry, worried, stressed, we
will not be able to breathe properly and in some cases lead to
respiratory related problems. Benefits of Jala neti kriya:
How to do? As a rough
guideline, 1/2 teaspoon for a mug of water is about right. The water
temperature has to be right (body temperature, or a little cooler).
That's easy to check out. One your Neti pot is filled with water at
the right temperature and degree of salinity, tilt the head to the
side, and pour gently the salted water through the upper nostril.
The water will flow around the septum and out through the other
nostril. Do not inhale as you are pouring the water through the
nose.
3) Dhauti (upper digestive tract cleansing) This can be done by drinking lots of lukewarm saline water on an empty stomach and vomit all out. There are other methods for Dhauti too.
4) Basti (lower colon cleansing)This can be done by using a Basti Pot (Enema Set) to fill the lower colon with saline water to flush the toxins out from the lower colon. Immediate changes can be seen through better complexion and clearer mind. Colon cleansing is
a refreshing and efficient way to keep the large intestine clean.

of life. The internal body becomes more nourished and less
